| Abstract | O Estado de Pernambuco possui 80% do seu território inserido na região semiárida, sofrendo com as irregularidades das chuvas e com o fenômeno das secas, o que reforça a necessidade de acompanhamento constante das variações do vigor vegetativo, que estão diretamente relacionadas aos eventos climáticos. Diante disso, esse estudo consistiu em avaliar a seca nessa área de estudo, levando em consideração três regiões climáticas: mata, agreste e sertão. Para isso, foi utilizado o VCI, calculado a partir do NDVI, durante o período de 2010 a 2017. Esse índice teve seu desempenho avaliado com os dados de umidade do solo do satélite SMOS e precipitação (CPTEC/INPE), os quais apresentaram mesma tendência e resultados estatísticos variando entre moderado a muito forte, sendo melhor correlacionado com a umidade do solo. ABSTRACT: The State of Pernambuco has 80% of its territory inserted in the semiarid region, suffering the irregularities of the precipitation and the phenomenon of droughts, which reinforces the need for constant monitoring of variations in vegetative vigor, which are directly related to climatic events. This study aimed to asses drought in three regions of Pernambuco: Mata, Agreste and Sertão. To do so, the Vegetation Condition Index (VCI) was calculated using NDVI, during the period from 2010 to 2017. This index had its performance evaluated with the soil moisture data of the SMOS mission and precipitation data (CPTEC / INPE). The evaluation presented similar trend and statistical results ranging from moderate to very strong, getting better correlation with soil moisture. |
